A sequel for the best science fiction film of 2024? The creator reveals his plans to convince Netflix

2024 was the year of the Kaijus. Whether at the cinema with the films Godzilla Minus One et Godzilla x Kongin the world of Japanese animation with the Kaiju No.8 series or even on Netflix with Ultraman – Risingthe new production resulting from this successful license, fans of these creatures have been spoiled.

And precisely, speaking ofUltramanthe film could have the right to a sequel. To date, nothing has yet been decided, but when we know Rising was as acclaimed by the press (average rating of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes) as by spectators (average rating of 94%), we don't see the streaming platform missing out on a new episode. Especially since it is already in development on the creators' side, just in case.

A sequel already in preparation

On the occasion of a convention, Shannon Tindle – co-director, has in fact confirmed (in comments taken up by Collider) that he had “already started writing a potential sequel“. And this one even has a title: Ultraman Fallen. Once again, we do not know if the site will place an order, but Tindle is ready to do anything to convince the managers to continue the adventure.

Still facing the public, the director simply revealed the beginnings of this potential story: “The film would begin with Emiko Sato (Ken's mother), who reveals herself as the founder of the Kaiju Defense League, the evil organization from the first episode. Following his loss on Ultraman's planet, The sequel could see Emiko returning home, fleeing a new threat that Ultraman would have to face“.

Translation ? In addition to intense emotional upheaval with unexpected reunions, this film would feature the arrival of at least one new super-powered Kaiju. And obviously, we can only be excited when thinking about the result to come! So we're crossing our fingers that Netflix gets carried away by the concept and quickly validates the project.
