“A little extra thing” becomes the biggest hit at the cinema since the start of the year with 4.5 million admissions

Almost a month after its release, the comedy A little something extra is now the biggest success of the year in French cinemas and exceeds 4.5 million admissions, according to figures released by CBO Box-Office on Wednesday May 29.

A surprise success, the film signed by the comedian and actor Artus, who takes the side of laughing with disabled people and not at their expense, follows on the heels of the last opus of the saga Asterix released in 2023. The most popular French film last year, it attracted 4.6 million spectators.

With another 1.1 million tickets sold for its fourth week on display, A little something extra now ahead of the second part of Dune (4.1 million entries) and Kung Fu Panda 4 (2.3 million admissions) at the top of the French box office in 2024. This popular success allowed the film team to climb the steps of the last Cannes Film Festival.

Furiosa: a Mad Max saga, the fifth installment of the post-apocalyptic saga, takes second place weekly with nearly 359,000 admissions for its theatrical debut. George Miller’s feature film returns to the origins of the heroine Furiosa, who appeared in Mad Max: Fury Roadan Oscar-winning film starring Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy.

In third place, The Planet of the Apes. The new kingdom generated more than 276,000 entries in one week. This latest installment of the science fiction saga has attracted more than 1.8 million spectators since its release.

The fiction Blue and company And The Second Actdirected by Quentin Dupieux and screened at the opening of the Cannes Film Festival, complete the top 5 with 112,362 and 95,883 spectators respectively.
