New blow for “Mission Impossible 8”? After seeing its release pushed back for a year due to the Hollywood strike, filming was further delayed due to an incident involving a submarine. Will this have consequences?

Expected in theaters on May 21, 2025, the second part of Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning is still filming at the moment. According to The Mirrorproduction had to stop after an incident surrounding a $25 million submarine.

The machine apparently suffered damage during the filming of a sequence, which caused a significant delay and significant repair costs. According to a Source cited by The Mirrorproduction would be unhappy because each day of delay would be very expensive.

A delay that will be expensive

This is a new blow for the film, the filming of which had already had to be postponed and the release postponed due to the writers’ and actors’ strike in 2023. If the Paramount studio is gnashing its teeth over this incident, it is due to the bill for the feature film, which would have climbed up to $400 million, according to World of Real.

For the moment, we do not know if this problem will have consequences on the date of May 21, 2025. At the time of writing these lines, production has not communicated on the subject.

Note that most of the new opus was filmed in the United Kingdom at Longcross Studios. Last March, a video of the shoot circulated on social networks, showing Tom Cruise sprinting on a bridge in his role as super-spy Ethan Hunt.

As you can see in the images above, the agent sports a new look, reminiscent of the second Mission Impossible. The spy has shoulder-length hair and wears a blood-stained shirt during this frantic race.

What mess has the super-spy got himself into again? We will find out when the film is released, which will arrive in theaters on May 21, 2025. The story of this 8th episode of the Mission Impossible saga still remains shrouded in mystery, just like the previous opuses.

As a reminder, Dead Reckoning Part 1 did not achieve the expected success at the global box office, bringing in 567 million dollars for a budget of almost 300 million. Will this second part be better? Answer next year!
