Marvel seems to have found the project capable of rekindling the flame. From Avengers: EngdameKevin Feige’s company is going through a slump, no longer able to fill cinemas with certainty. The Marvels stood out as the biggest flop of the year 2023 in cinema, and it is not the only project to have disappointed spectators. While the license cannot yet count on the Avengers stamp to give a boost to the box office, there are few projects to arouse the impatience of spectators. Only two films seem to really interest spectators: Dead Pool and the reboot of Fantastic Four.

Since the acquisition of 20th Century Fox, Marvel has been looking forward to being able to include Reed Richards and his team within its vast universe. In February, after months of rumors and speculation, the identities of four headliners were finally revealed. The studio has managed to bring together big names under its banner, Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach will respectively play Mr. Fantastic, The Invisible Woman, The Human Torch and The Thing. A few days later, the participation of Julia Garner was also made official, she will be Shalla-Bal aka the Silver Surfer. Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich and Ralph Ineson also joined the project. The last will play the highly anticipated Galactus, an antagonist that this new film offers a new chance to transport to the cinema.

Should we be optimistic?

A name has been added to the long list of actors and actresses mobilized for this project. Marvel offers the services of Natasha Lyonnefamous for Orange is the New Black as much as for his series Russian Doll. Recently, she was nominated for her performance in Poker face by Rian Johnson. We do not yet know what score has been entrusted to her, we can hope that it will be an opportunity for the actress to demonstrate her talents for the comedy as much as drama.

His arrival in the distribution is rather good news, it proves once again that the project developed by Marvel has something to appeal to. Written by Ian Springer and Jeff Kaplan, Fantastic Four should stand out from all superhero productions. If the project is still particularly mysterious, initial elements suggest that a trip to the past is on the program. Directed by Matt Shakman, the film benefits from nostalgic promotional elements which suggest that it is the 60s – the period in which the characters were born in the comics – which will serve as the context for their respective mutations. The idea is not the most absurd, it could explore this crucial moment in American history from a new prism. The appointment is in all cases made for the July 23, 2025 at the cinema.
