Having a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is, for many, a true Hollywood achievement. However, it sometimes happens that certain actors turn out to be unhappy, which does not please Chris Hemsworth.

A springboard, but at what cost?

In the 2010s, the MCU rose to the top of the Hollywood food chain: the high point was certainly Avengers Endgame in 2019, which swept the box office. Disney has succeeded in establishing its extended universe as a real reference and inevitably, appearing there as an actor or actress was a bit like ensuring an unprecedented springboard and fruitful visibility. At least, when the film was good.

Because yes, it’s no secret, the iconic Marvel Cinematic Universe has also failed a bunch of times: these last few years are a great demonstration of this with recurring critical and commercial failures, completely forcing the firm to completely review its policy to avoid disaster. And for now, some actors did not hesitate to criticize Marvel. For example, Christian Bale, who played the big bad guy in Thor Love and Thunder.

Well, for now, the actor playing the unforgettable Dark Knight didn’t really need that to break through, but the fact remains that he described his experience as disappointing: “It’s the definition of monotony.”he said about his character in the MCU. On the side of Anthony Hopkins, aka Odin, same story: “There’s no point in acting if you’re sitting in front of a green screen”. And they are not alone.

Thor to the rescue

Needless to say, Chris Hemsworth plays Thor in the MCU for more than a decade now: he is still in the running today and even if he did not necessarily appreciate Thor Love and Thunder, he still wants to protect his character… and this extended universe in its entiretyas he admitted during an interview with the Times.

There’s a bit of a trend like: “These are successful films, put me in one of them! Oh, mine didn’t work? I’ll clash with them, then.”. Look, I grew up on a soap opera (he debuted in the Australian series Summer Bay, editor’s note). And it bothered me when the actors later spoke about the show with guilt or shame.

Humility is very important. One of the actors on Home and Away once said something: “We don’t get paid to make the good lines sound good, we get paid to make the bad ones work.”

In any case, we remind you that a fifth film dedicated to Thor is planned and that this should arrive in 2026.
