Caddo Lakeproduced by M. Night Shyamalan, plunges us into strange lands and the first opinions are in.

He has barely just invaded cinemas this summer with his thriller Trap following the hunt for a serial killer, M. Night Shyamalan is already back in business. At least, he is back in his role as producer, a few months after having produced the very bad The Watchers of his daughter Ishana, with Caddo Lake.

Led by Dylan O’Brien (the saga The Labyrinth) and Eliza Scanlen (The Four Daughters of Doctor March), the film tells the story of Anna whose mysterious disappearance at the age of 8 is soon connected to other past deaths and disappearances at Caddo Lake. The first opinions of this horror thriller fell. Press review.

When you’re afraid of what the critics will think

No gifts for Caddo Lake

“The film is intelligently designed and its progress is rather effective, despite a story that becomes complicated quite quickly. You’re safe in the hands of writers/directors Logan George and Celine Held. They thought of everything. »

The Wrap

“It’s not just going wrong. It goes in several directions at once, often in ways that are almost impossible to follow, but it will really depend on how much you like it. »

RogerEbert.com

“It’s simply a well-intentioned film that gets lost in the swampy wasteland of its own convoluted plot and twisted characters, until all that’s left is murky water. »

Looper

In troubled water

“Caddo Lake is a sometimes hypnotic and tension-filled adventure. The audience is constantly searching for answers amid the emotional chaos the characters face. »

The Playlist

“It’s a suspenseful family drama that drowns in the environment of the location, unable to capitalize on its Shyamalanian influences. »

Collider

“While the stellar performances balance out its underwhelming attributes, they’re not enough to save the film from being a boring and sometimes plodding story about a mysterious disappearance. »

Screen Rant

“Are swamps easy to map? We got lost there”

As is often the case with productions made by Shyamalan, the reviews are divided. Some praise the management of suspense and the complexity of a scenario with multiple twists and turns while other critics (the majority) criticize the film for its frankly off-base scenario. Nothing very reassuring for this film written and directed by the duo Celine Held-Logan George, who had directed a few episodes of the M. Night Shyamalan series Servant.

To form your own opinion, Caddo Lake has been available on Max since October 10 in .
