In this horror film, the Academy Award winner for Best Actor (for Gladiator in 2001) plays the role of Anthony Miller, a recently weaned actor who gets the role of a priest in a horror film and dives gradually into a psychosis. His daughter wonders if he has fallen back into his past addictions or if her father is possessed…
The first trailer, revealed today, already gives us a semblance of an answer: Anthony is possessed. After trying to save children from a demon in The Vatican Exorcist, Russell Crowe will be possessed himself.
The Maximus interpreter shares the bill with Ryan Simpkins who plays his on-screen daughter, Chloe Bailey, David Hyde Pierce (father Conor), Samantha Mathis, Adam Goldberg and Sam Worthington. The Exorcism was filmed at the end of 2019 but will not be released in American theaters until June 7. The small success of The Vatican Exorcist, which grossed $77 million internationally for a budget of 20 million, must have accelerated the release of the feature film. No French release date is planned at this time.
Russell Crowe will be appearing, from August 28, in the Sony/Marvel film Kraven The Hunter alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson and should join Rami Malek on the set of the historical drama Nuremberg by James Vanderbilt. He also filmed two action thrillers: Sleeping Dogs and Land of Bad, as yet undated.
