Alien 3 was a nightmare for David Fincher but not only

David Fincher recently returned to the big problems linked to the production ofAlien 3and how he was able to bounce back afterwards.

Since the announcement ofAlien: Romulusextracts from which details promise carnage and a nod to Resurrection, fans are logically impatiently awaiting the return of the saga with Fede Alvarez at the helm. But before him, great filmmakers took on the task of making an Alien film. The franchise obviously started with Alien, the eighth passenger by Ridley Scott, followed by James Cameron with Aliens, the return and of David Fincher who took care ofAlien 3.

And indeed, Fincher recently spoke again about his film which, in addition to being his first feature film, had been a nightmarish experience which had ended in one of the most unloved opuses of the entire franchise. Alien. A learning the hard way that the distinguished filmmaker surely still has in his throat, but who seems to have forged a good part of his career.

We are all behind you David

Alien 3, Alien’s “problem child”

It’s in an interview for The Playlist that David Fincher was able to evoke the third opus of the saga again. And even if the director must still be quite frustrated with the way he and his film were treated, his words tend to highlight the experience and the learning he was able to draw from it:

“Look, Alien 3 was a $60 million-plus movie. When it comes to a big franchise movie, there are a lot of intruders, a lot of people watching how things are spent. And There are no regrets to be had, nor any fault to be found. Who wants to spend their time complaining about the transgressions that have been done to you? I don’t think so. being persecuted in Alien 3, but I really learned what my limits were.”

Alien 3: PhotoIt doesn’t look so bad though:

Yes, if many young directors could have collapsed after a first attempt of this kind, David Fincher did not give up and bounced back in the most beautiful way with his now cult (and regularly considered a leader -work) Seven. So, even in Hollywood, it’s always possible to get back up. We are in any case happy that Fincher proved it to us, since his filmography is undoubtedly one of the most brilliant and fleshed out in contemporary American cinema.

If the vagueness persists regarding Fincher’s next film, on the other hand, Alien: Romulus, the rest of the saga should arrive here on August 14, 2024. To be continued.
