Black ice causes a series of accidents from the south to the north of Deux-Sèvres

Many accidents due to ice have been observed throughout the department, causing a lot of material damage but without causing serious injuries according to the situation report drawn up by to NO at noon with the three gendarmerie companies.

In the Parthenay and Gâtine sector, there were “around ten accidents” during the morning, distributed throughout the territory. The most important, around 10:30 a.m., involved three heavy goods vehicles on the D725 between “La Maucarrière” (Airvault) and Boussais. “A first heavy goods vehicle slipped and jackknifed on the road like two others following. There was no collision between them,” testifies Captain Raboisson who commands the Parthenay gendarmerie company. “It’s a very busy route; this caused a significant slowdown. A diversion has been put in place. »

Ice and snowfall

Snowfall was noted in several places in the area, notably in “Enjouran” and “Grand-Moiré”.

As for the company, four accidents due to slippery roads were recorded at the end of the morning. In the Saint-Maixent sector, in Avon, at 7 h 45, a motorist slipped and ended up in the ditch, transported for control examinations at University Hospital.

In Lezay, two accidents occurred on the D45, one at 8:30 a.m. and the other at 10:40 a.m.; the first causing the transport of a lightly injured person to Niort hospital. In Coulon, a road accident also occurred shortly before 9 a.m., a slightly injured person was also transported to Niort hospital.

In the north of the department, twelve accidents were recorded between 5 a.m. and noon, again due to icy conditions. It was in Thouarsais that there were the most numerous (six). In Saint-Maurice-Étusson, a car ended up on its roof. In Argentonnay, a vehicle stopped in the ditch, like two other vehicles in Plaine-et-Vallées. The other two slips occurred in Thouars and Val-en-Vignes.

In Bressuirais, four accidents were recorded, including one which required the transport of a young woman to the -Deux-Sèvres hospital center in Faye-l'Abbesse.

Regarding the Cerizay sector, in Nueil-les-Aubiers, a vehicle rolled over before ending up in a field and another accident occurred in Mauléon.
