The Aprilia Racing presentation, which was held yesterday in Milan thanks to the support of Sky Sports, first opened with the historic Max Biaggi before the arrival of the duo Fabiano Sterlacchini and Paolo Bonera.
Fabiano Sterlacchini the Technical Director only officially arrived at Aprilia Racing, from KTM, after the last 2024 Grand Prix. He replaces the emblematic Albesian Roman left for Honda after 11 years as technical director of the team as well as 20 seasons spent within the Piaggio Group.
His influence on the 2025 RS-GP can therefore only be minimal and the man has confined himself to a few generalities.
“Let me tell you that you can really perceive the history of the company and how well she has trained over the years, in terms of experience, and that all people and facility are ready to develop the motorcycle in the right way. So it’s a really good and amazing band. Today, in motorcycle racing, in motorsport, it is super important to have the combination of the engineering factor, as well as the feeling of the rider and the confidence that he has, because an important part of the performance is the ease with which the rider can take the bike and push it to its limits. As is often the case in competition, you have to work on all areasby developing all aspects, so as not to have any weak points. Of course, we are focusing in this first part of the project development on the engine and aerodynamics, because we obviously have the homologation at the start of the season. But at the same time, we are also working on other aspects of the vehicle, like the electronic aspect, so we are trying to improve the bike for the whole project, I would say. »
Paolo Bonera, the Team Manager is generally discreet, usually leaving the spotlight to the “boss” Massimo Rivola. But forced to express a few words, he insisted on the efforts undertaken by the Noale brand to put all its drivers at the same level.
This was not the case during the last MotoGP test in Barcelona, where only the official riders had RS-GP 25s, which was already the result of a lot of work…
« It was the first time and it was a really big effort for everyonebut it was one of the main topics, one of the key points, to bring the new specifications of the bike to understand what was the feedback from the two new riders. »
But this will be the case from the next tests at Sepang, where no less than 10 identical motorcycles will be sent (4 for Aprilia Racing, 4 for Trackhouse MotoGP Team, 2 for the test team with Lorenzo Savadori). Aprilia has therefore made an effort in this area, since we remember that Raul Fernandez even had to wait until the last part of the season to have a 2024 model.
« This is the biggest effort we've ever made. That's for sure. We are happy about it, and I would especially like to thank everyone at Aprila Racing, both teams, the factory team and the Trackhouse team. »
