A month after the last round of the MotoGP season, in Barcelona, Johann Zarco still has not taken the time to rest. Testing with Honda in Jerez, shortly after this date, the Frenchman then traveled to Japan, for the closing event of the brand's season.
Two days later, the Frenchman went to Cartagena (Spain), for an event he initiated. After renting the circuit for private driving, the Frenchman had the idea of sharing it with others. He invited around ten other young French drivers to offer them two days on the track, as well as private coaching sessions.
The Frenchman's approach comes from his desire to pass on his knowledge to the younger generation, while saving them the cost of renting a circuit.
Among the latter, we could find the drivers of the French team of the European Talent Cup, David Da Costa, Enzo Bellon and Gabriel Pio. Supervised by the former French Moto3 rider, Alexis Masbou. As well as young French riders entered in various categories such as the French Superbike championship, or the Nothern Talent Cup.
Zarco returns to Jerez in January
Belgian Moto2 rider Barry Baltus was also there. The latter having gotten into the habit of training with Johann Zarco since the start of the 2024 season. Lucas Mahias, Supersport world champion in 2017, and back in the same championship this season, also made the trip.
The choice of the Cartagena circuit took into account the technicality of the route which offers a varied range of turns. Other MotoGP riders, such as Pedro Acosta and Fermin Aldeguer, have trained extensively at this site.
Next month, the Frenchman will take part in a new Test, near Jerez, with more professional drivers this time. He will then travel to Malaysia, for the MotoGP Shakedown, followed by pre-season testing. His trip to Asia will continue with the season presentation event in Bangkok, which will take place three weeks before the inaugural round of the 2025 season in Thailand.
