MotoGP is getting faster and faster, and for several years, speed records have only held for very short periods. 2024 was no exception to the rule. Eight scores entered the top-13 for fastest speeds ever achieved.
First, the record that Brad Binder set during the 2023 Italian Grand Prix was equaled. Unsurprisingly, it was also at Mugello that Pol Espargaro reached the speed of 366.1 km/h on the handlebars of his RC16. The long straight which precedes the first turn is conducive to establishing this type of mark.
All the other brands in this table have also been registered on the Italian site. In second position, five drivers tied, having posted 364.8 km/h on the clock. Here we find the first Ducati in the table, with the mark set by Enea Bastianini last year during the Sprint.
Tied, Alex Marquez and Marco Bezzecchi achieved it with the same machine, but a year later. The Ducati satellite teams have the GP23 this year, one season after the official team.
Jorge Martin completes a top-3 where we find this time six drivers with the same brand. The Spaniard is the only representative of this classification to have made his mark before the 2023 season. The No. 89 managed to reach 363.6 km/h during the race at Mugello in 2022.
It is also in third position that we can see the only top speed in the top-3 recorded by a Japanese machine. Joan Mir was the fastest during this year’s Warm UP.
