The world's stars of motorcycling shone brightly at the 2024 FIM Awards Ceremony which took place on a glittering night at the avant-garde Palma Convention Centre, overlooking the capital of Balearic island. The prestigious end-of-season ceremony saw this year's FIM World Champions receive their gold medals to loud applause from the assembled members of the FIM Family and led by FIM President Jorge Viegas.
With a thousand guests in attendance to honor the winners of 62 FIM world titles in six different areas of motorcycling, circuit racing, motocross, trial, enduro, cross-country rally and track racing, the program was packed and was executed to perfection. The impressive Mediterranean island venue was packed with representatives from all 121 national federations who showed their appreciation alongside motorcycling legends, FIM promoters, FIM partners and representatives from the global motorcycling community and industry at the broad sense.
Masterfully led by the trio of masters of ceremonies composed of Barbara Pedrotti, James Toseland and Matt Roberts, the president of the FIM, Jorge Viegasthen gave a speech on the FIM anthem before presenting the FIM Distinctions, the Nicolas Rodil des Valle gold medal, to
Jaime Alguersuaformer Grand Prix motorcycle racer, visionary event promoter and co-founder of Solo Moto magazine, and Igor Akrapovičfounder of the eponymous exhaust manufacturer.
After giving a speech on the theme of the first FIM Intercontinental Games, FIM President Jorge Viegas then introduced the FIM circuit racing legend,
Dominique Méliandwho presented the medals in the circuit racing category to Harry Payne, FIM sidecar world champion, Kevin Rousseau, FIM sidecar passenger world champion, Aldi Satya MahendraFIM Supersport 300 World Champion, Adrian HuertasFIM Supersport World Champion, Hector GarzoFIM MotoE™ World Champion, Alvaro CarpeWorld Champion FIM JuniorGP™, Ana CarrascoFIM Women's Circuit Racing World Champion, David AlonsoFIM Moto3™ Grand Prix World Champion and Ai OguraFIM Moto2™ Grand Prix World Champion.
Still on the subject of speed, Ignacio Verneda, Vice-President of the FIM, was then invited to take the stage to present the gold medals in the Endurance category to Yoshimura SERT Motul, FIM endurance world champion under the direction of Damien Saulnier et Yohei Kato, Gregg BlackFIM endurance world champion, Etienne MassonFIM endurance world champion, and Dan LinfootFIM endurance world champion.
The last category of the evening was that of Ultimate Champions with the President of the FIM, Jorge Viegas, once again on stage to give the honors to Toprak RazgatlıoğluFIM Superbike World Champion and
Jorge MartinFIM MotoGP™ World Champion.
The president of the FIM, Jorge Viegasreflecting on this fantastic evening, said: “Bringing together such a large number of our FIM World Champions always guarantees a very special occasion and the 2024 FIM Awards were the perfect conclusion to the FIM’s 120th anniversary year. Palma de Mallorca turned out to be a fantastic venue, made possible thanks to the support of the RFME.
I would like to thank everyone who contributed directly or indirectly to making the 2024 season a huge success. Tonight was the perfect way to celebrate and close it, although we are already looking ahead to 2025 and putting plans in place to make it even better. »
