In 2024, Johann Zarco may have had one of his best seasons in MotoGP. Taking into account the equipment he had and the performances achieved, in comparison with the three other Honda drivers. Yes but, as everyone could expect, the tricolor also achieved its worst harvest since its arrival in the premier category of speed on two wheels.
MotoGP: Johann avoids the worst…for a place!
At least, during a full season. Because in 2019, the Frenchman was ousted by KTM before the end of his contract, something which forced him to miss several Grand Prix. Before concluding the campaign in question, in the ranks of LCR-Honda, for three events. That year, therefore, he had only registered 30 units. Thus, with the 55 points scored in 2024, JZ5 narrowly avoids its worst overall ranking. 18th in the championship, so he did better than his 19th place then…
But obviously the situation is more to his advantage today than it was then. Since the person concerned, broken morally by Pierer Mobility and Pit Beirer, started almost from scratch thanks to the opportunity offered by Ducati, which allowed him to relaunch with Avintia (1 pole position and a podium, in Brno), with the bike from the year before. Before propelling him to Pramac, the following season, thanks to the good results obtained in 2020.
Whereas today, he is installed in a family structure, LCR, in which he feels good. Above all, his experience acquired in recent seasons allows him to exploit his equipment and above all, to advance Honda which, without him, would never have seen the slightest top ten in 2024, in qualifying or in the race. And the future outlook is quite good, with a natural progression expected to continue next year. And why not, an opportunity within the official Team, knowing that the next regulations – if he decides to continue in MotoGP could seriously benefit him.
