Fabio Quartararo was, by far, the best MotoGP rider of the season, among the Japanese riders. So, of course, this will not make him forget this 2024 campaign, which is painful in terms of pure performance. The fight for victory is now nothing more than a distant memory for the Yamaha rider. However, the foundations laid this year should allow him to reap the rewards next year, with undoubtedly a few podiums to boot. That, at least, is what we can wish for him…
MotoGP: Quartararo a skull above Rins
Concerning the internal struggle between the tricolor and his teammate, Alex Rins, there is not even a debate. Although, the fact that the Spaniard discovered Team Yamaha in 2024 and that he was injured and unavailable for several weeks clearly did not help him. However, his career will undoubtedly have been better than that of his predecessor, Franco Morbidelli, in 2023. In addition, he will have achieved several good qualifications, sometimes better than those of his prestigious teammate. On the other hand, his departures and above all, his first round, must be reviewed. As well as his consistency in racing.
Regardless, Fabio Quartararo finished far ahead of the Honda drivers as well. Certainly a logical result, the performances of the Yamaha having often been above those of its rival and compatriot. Only Johann Zarco – best Honda driver in the championship – kept his head above water during the last part of the season. Here is the complete ranking, including the six drivers concerned. Note that for France, it is a double, JZ5 ranking well ahead of the others, in second place.
- Fabio Quartararo (FRA/Yamaha), 113 points
- Johann Zarco (FRA/Honda-LCR), 55 points
- Alex Rins (ESP/Yamaha), 31 points
- Takaaki Nakagami (JPN/Honda-LCR), 31 points
- Joan Mir (ESP/Honda), 21 points
- Luca Marini (ITA/Honda), 14 points
- Stefan Bradl (GER/Team HRC), 2 points
