In support of MotoGP to those affected by the floods in Valencia, and in collaboration with the Spanish Red Cross, a charity auction was held, on site and online, during the Motul Grand Prix Solidarity in Barcelona.
The catalog presented to fans wishing to acquire unique pieces for a good cause offers, among other things, three competition motorcycles, with the highlight being the KTM #25 of Team Calvo, Moto3™ champion of Maverick Viñales in 2013 and given by its pilot (very very nice gesture) with its leather of the time, but also one of the very first Moto2 prototypes offered by Carmelo Ezpeleta himself (BQR-Moto2 #7 driven by Dani Rivas in 2010), as well as the Kalex 2024 of the Preicanos team driven by Jaume Masia.
Given the interest in the first two motorcycles, and the objective of the sale, the prices have not yet really skyrocketed, with the first reaching 49,000 euros, the second 31,000. Certainly, these are large sums, but we can think that the bids will go higher, given the uniqueness of the objects and the cause defended… and if this is not the case, it really seems like a good deal.
The online sale ends on December 6 while the one held on site on Friday closed live. In this one, the helmet of Johann Zarco started at 3,100 euros, a sum that satisfied the French driver.
“I'm happy because we offered a helmet, and the bidding started at €3,100. It was a fight between 2 French people and it took a while to take off, but in the end they put on a great challenge and I even hugged the guy who won, because it really touched me that in the end it increases. Because the one who did the bidding wasn't a showman and he didn't motivate people (laughs), so it's good that the two French people were motivated. And so I did a somersault for the show. I said 3000, and it went to 3100. Once, at OM, we offered a combi and it went to 10,000, but those were rich people: a meal at OM, yeah, they were rich (laughs). »
3,100 euros, exactly the same amount as the bids offered for the helmet Fabio Quartararo Currently !
