Barcelona's post-season testing marked the debut of three new MotoGP talents: Ai Ogura, Fermin Aldeguer and Somkiat Chantra. These young riders had the opportunity to discover their new bikes and compete against the best in the world.
The 2025 MotoGP season promises to be exciting with the arrival of new talents who will have the chance to take their first steps in the premier category. Three rookies, Fermin Aldeguer, Ai Ogura et Somkiat Chantrahad the opportunity to discover their new frames during the
official testing in Barcelona on Tuesday. But this first day of testing was marked by falls and difficult moments for the three drivers.
Somkiat Chantrawho will become the first Thai to ride in MotoGP by taking the place of
Takaaki Nakagami chez LCR-Hondahad a difficult start to the day. The Thai rider finished in 23rd position, 2.492 seconds off the lead, after a crash at turn 10, marking his first foray on the premier class bike. Ai OguraMoto2 world champion and successor to Miguel Oliveira at TrackHouse Aprilia, also experienced difficulties. He finished in 21st position, 2.143 seconds behind the best time, after falling at turn 2, notably on the front wheel, shortly after the start of the day.

The fastest among the three rookies was Fermin Aldeguerwho achieved 20th place, 1.761 seconds behind his teammate
Alex Marquezauthor of the best time. Although his time was not top-notch,
Aldeguer showed signs of strength, finishing ahead of several experienced drivers, including Jack
Miller of Pramac Yamaha.
Despite these difficult first tests, where the three newcomers learned the hard way the demands of MotoGP, the opportunity to improve their performance will present itself during the tests at Sepang in February 2025. For these rookies, the road to mastering the most demanding machine in the world will be strewn with pitfalls, but these first steps, although imperfect, mark a promising start. They will have the opportunity to progress quickly with the support of their teams and the experience they will accumulate with each new outing.
