Arriving in Barcelona the day after the last Grand Prix of the season, Fabio Di Giannantonio took part in the first Test of the season as an observer with Ducati. The Italian, who will have the GP25 in his hands from the first campaign, was in fact unable to test the latter, given that he is still recovering from the shoulder operation he underwent earlier. two weeks ago.
Fabio di Giannantonio, who underwent shoulder surgery in the middle of the Malaysian Grand Prix, returned to work this Tuesday in Barcelona with VR46. The No. 49, who chose to miss the last two Grands Prix of the season, and therefore the Official Test this Tuesday, took the opportunity to take stock of his rehabilitation, which seems to be progressing quickly.
” I'm doing well. These last few days, I'm doing much better compared to last week. I performed the operation on the Saturday of the Malaysian Grand Prix, and the first days were quite difficult, it was impossible to sleep, and the pain was high, let's say, entrusts Di Giannantonio to Barcelona. But now I'm doing really well. The medical staff is also quite impressed with the progress I make day after day. Day after day, I improve a lot. »
For the moment, it is not yet a question of resuming training, but still of recovering from the intervention. He will instead focus on this point during the month of December, with the hope of not missing any during next season, which will start very early, with the first Tests in Malaysia at the beginning of February.

“So it’s very good. Next week I'm going to start working a little bit in the pool, in the water, he continues. In two weeks I will remove my splint. I will start rehabilitation actively, moving the shoulder on my own. So yes, I am completing the process. It will be long, I have a long winter ahead of me, but I am good at the moment. »
The VR46 pilot also says he is confident that he will be able to take part in these tests, and says he will get back on his feet faster than expected. “If I improve that quickly, and I'm back that quickly, obviously I'm going to regret missing the last two races a little bit. But I think we did it in the right timing, because even if it happens, and I recover faster. I will have time to train and be ready for next season. At the moment the plan is to do the first official test in Sepang. »
The first stages of the next campaign will nevertheless remain difficult given the lack of training he has suffered since July.
“We won’t be 100% physically I think. If you saw me naked it wouldn't be a big sight, but you would see that I lost a lot of muscle. To rebuild these muscles, and get back in shape, it will take a lot of time. So for now, I think we did everything at the right time.” concluded Fabio Di Giannantonio.
