The accolades continue to roll in for new Moto2 world champion Ai Ogura. The MT Helmets – MSI rider, who will move to MotoGP next year, within Aprilia's satellite structure, Trackhouse Racing, has just won the Triumph Triple Trophy Award. An award given each year to a driver for whom fans are invited to vote at the end of each Grand Prix, and which rewards the main interested party with a new machine.
“Chosen by fans to demonstrate strength, skill and resilience, as well as superb sporting success, #79 won a bespoke Triumph Street Triple 765 RS (see photo above). A magnificent machine which was presented to him at the Motul Solidarity Grand Prix in Barcelona. »
In total, more than 600,000 people voted throughout the season for their favorite driver each weekend, from a shortlist of three drivers, proposed by a Triumph Triple Trophy jury. As of 2024, Ai Ogura has been named to this list nine times, and has received the honors five times. A score sufficient to become the fourth winning rider of the competition to move to MotoGP.
One more symbolic title for the first Japanese Moto2 world champion of the Triumph era. While the engine supplier currently has a contract with the discipline until at least 2029, others are likely to succeed Ai Ogura in the years to come.
