Less than six minutes into the first free practice session of the Barcelona Solidarity GP, the Red Bull GasGas Tech3 drivers crashed into each other and fell heavily – although they emerged unscathed.
Pedro Acosta briefly explained what happened: 'Whatever can happen in a situation, has happened. Let's forget that; we are both fine. It wasn't anyone's fault, it was a combination of factors. For that, let's forget… shit happens’.
Augusto Fernández was more detailed, saying: 'It was strange. I was outside, and suddenly I crashed. It was scary, but in the end I spoke with Pedro, everything is fine in the end. I didn't see him pick up the bike, he didn't see me. It was a normal incident, but not the ideal way to start the weekend’.
When asked if he was trying to pass Acosta to go faster, driver #31 denied: 'No, they were slow in the left turn, and I went to the outside: not to pass, not to try to overtake, just to avoid them. I was riding on the outside line and then on the restart line [ligne]. It's just a normal incident’.
