“Pecco and Jorge did honor to the championship”

Gigi Dall'Igna (Ducati Corse) shared this message after the Malaysian Grand Prix. We do not hesitate to republish it as the grand final approaches, where Jorge Martin will arrive with 24 points ahead of Francesco Bagnaia.

“With what we've seen, what more can we say…?” We witnessed one of the most exciting duels in MotoGP history, on a physically demanding track, with extreme cornering and braking. The first laps were absolutely sensational: a spectacle of braking, overtaking, crossing trajectories and counter-overtaking, where the slightest deviation allowed you to position yourself and regain the lead. »

“Pecco and Jorge honored the World Championship as only true champions can do, but not only that: with the loyalty they showed to each other, they exalted our sport as well as the work of all those who live this sport to the fullest on a daily basis. We are really proud of our boys, pilots who value and respect each other. Nothing better to see under the sun than high fives and hugs in the parc ferme; Equally striking were the amusing comments they exchanged and the statements they made to successfully conclude a wonderful day of sport. »

“At the start of the race, they competed without hesitation, without any intention of giving up, because they both wanted to win and stay in the lead due to the high temperatures that the pursuit bike had to endure. The pressure was on for Pecco to win, to keep the championship open, while Jorge fought ruthlessly, even taking unnecessary risks to stay in the lead. »

“An absolutely fierce duel which finally saw Bagnaia widen the gap with a peremptory pace, surpassing the resistance put up by Martin who, however, ended up giving up, given the determination of his opponent to give everything at all costs, and especially taking into account the very important points guaranteed by a second place after Marquez's retirement. Bagnaia thus wins his tenth Grand Prix victory of the season! Equaling all the greatest of the past. »

“It will be a great Ducati celebration during the last race, as this Championship and all the supporters deserve, and above all as our two champions deserve, who with their respective teams and under the banner of Ducati Corse, not only share a splendid motorcycle but also this trait which is the style, the philosophy, the approach to work, the team spirit and this certain way of winning… Come on, Ducati! »
