MotoGP Malaysia J3, Franco Morbidelli (Ducati/14): “Racing in Barcelona is good news”

Damage. Franco Morbidelli looked quite quick today in Malaysia, but was unable to capitalize on his own speed. Indeed, a fall from the front in turn n°9 (the same one which had sent Pecco Bagnaia to the ground the day before) forced him to start from the back of the peloton. But the performance of the Ducatis is such that even a fall does not prevent them from scoring points! This was also the case for Marc Marquez, 12th at the finish after an error in the last corner.

“Franky”, who had a lot of pace behind his compatriot Enea Bastianini, made a good number of overtakes due to his lightning comeback. This was one of the best results of his season, but a small mistake is unforgivable at this level of competition. « Everything was going well behind Enea. But the grip has changed, as have the sensations. I fell like this” he affirmed in the columns of GPOne.

These situations are not easy, because you have to refocus and start with a cool head. « From there, a whole different race began. It was difficult to get back in the saddle, and above all, to fight with Marc Marquez because he also fell. The heat was incredible, I was still on the limit, but it was still fun to run » the Italian pilot consoled himself.

Like others, he too reacted to the news of the day: a final will take place in Spain, but not in Valencia, a city currently ravaged by floods. It will be held in two weeks in Barcelona, and Morbidelli thinks it is a good idea. « It's good news, it's one of the first circuits where I had a good race this year. Even if I made a mistake, I will be able to see my progress” he concluded.
