Pedro Acosta, for his part, placed the second RC16 in the hierarchy in fourth position ahead of Enea Bastianini, author of the fifth fastest time despite a fall at the start of the session. Maverick Viñales finished sixth ahead of Francesco Bagnaia, more than three tenths behind Binder. Alex Marquez, Fabio Di Giannantonio and Marco Bezzecchi are the three other drivers who will advance directly to Q2.
Having made a mistake in the final minutes, Miller failed in 11e position in front of the stage local Takaaki Nakagami, first Honda rider.
On the French side, Fabio Quartararo inherited 14e time ahead of Aleix Espargaro, Joan Mir and his compatriot Johann Zarco, who was also trapped during the session.
