Moto2 Indonesia – P2: Aron Canet in another dimension

This week, the intermediate class of the world speed championships accompanies MotoGP to Indonesia to begin a five-event Asian tour. A challenge for the drivers and teams who were still in Misano a few days ago. In the Moto2 championship, Ai Ogura concludes the discipline’s move to Europe, demonstrating exemplary consistency. He is now 22 points ahead of his closest pursuer and teammate, Sergio Garcia. Earlier this weekend, Ai Ogura finished P1 in the lead.

Even if you already know the beginning of this session, come relive it with us! Before starting, here is a table which summarizes the known facts :

P2 begins and presents itself, like every weekend, as a final chance for the drivers to gain direct access to Q2. To achieve this, it will be a matter of finishing the session in the top-14.

Tony Arbolino wasted no time this Saturday morning. Impressive all Friday, the Italian twice failed to claim the lead in the standings before the checkered flag. He therefore sends a premature warning to his competitors in this session, with a time of 1:33.275 from his first attempts.

His closest pursuer until the end of the session will remain Aron Canet. The Spaniard cannot, however, get closer than three tenths to this mark. Behind, we should note the falls of Filip Salac and Mario Aji.

Fourth throughout the start of the session, Fermin Aldeguer defied the laws of gravity with a Marc Marquez-style catch in turn 10.

While during the last attempts, most of the drivers completed laps five tenths slower than that of Arbolino, Aron Canet managed to find the solution to lap in 1:33.077, and thus once again deprive the Italian of the head of a session.

This impressive brand will not be beaten by any of its competitors. Tony Arbolino and Fermin Aldeguer complete the top-3 at two and three tenths. Somkiat Chantra, fourth, is already more than half a second behind.

Ai Ogura and Alonso Lopez both qualified for Q2 after half an hour of driving. Joe Roberts and Jake Dixon also do so in twelfth and thirteenth positions. It was a close call for the Briton who fell during his last attempt.
