Fermín Aldeguer was never afraid of losing his place in MotoGP: “Ducati gave me a lot of confidence”

Fermín Aldeguer's Moto2 season fell well short of expectations, with the Spanish rider falling out of title contention early in the season. This sparked speculation that his 2025 MotoGP debut could be in danger.

The Spanish rider was announced as a Ducati satellite team rider in 2025 after the Qatar GP in March. However, his disappointing performance throughout the year fueled doubts, until his final confirmation with the Gresini team.

Despite the rumors, Aldeguer assured that his place was never in danger. Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, the 2025 rookie said:

What was said was not pleasant. When things didn't go my way, people said Ducati was going to take me off the bike. But, in a way, it didn't matter to me because I've never heard anything like that from Ducati. On the contrary, they gave me a lot of confidence. I was calm because they believed in me and never let any doubt show.

Gresini's confirmation came later, coinciding with Pramac's announcement of a move to Yamaha for 2025: '[On m’a dit] the moment Pramac's contract with Yamaha became official. Until that moment, I didn't know. I was going to have a Ducati on a team, that was for sure. Once the deal was finalized, the only team with a spot available was Gresini. Now that I worked with them during the Barcelona test, I can say that I am very proud and happy’.
