The first ever FIM Intercontinental Games (ICG) take place this weekend in Jerez de la Frontera, and after the qualifying day, there remains complete uncertainty as to whether which of the six Continental Unions (CONU) of the FIM will obtain first place.
The general principle, you know it: make six continents compete fraternally (Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, North America and Oceania) through 48 pilots, men and women, divided into groups of 4 for each of the two categories, Supersport et Supersport
300riding Yamaha R7 and R3.
Free practice took place on Saturday (30 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes in the afternoon), then qualifying (2×20 minutes).
In Supersportthe South African Dino Iozzo obtained pole position in 1'52.048, ahead of the Brazilian Humberto
Cesar Maier Neto (South America) and Clint Seller (Africa).
Africa, composed solely of South African drivers, has therefore taken the advantage, but Europe is not far away, lining up the Italian
Elia Bartolini and the only French Enzo de la Vega in 4th and 5th position.
The races for this displacement will take place today at 12:00 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.
In Supersport 300the Spanish Manu González will go first, accompanied on the front line by the two Australians Archie
McDonald et Cameron Swain.
The first race takes place at 11:00 a.m., with a second heat at 2:15 p.m.
There is therefore uncertainty ahead, especially since little communication was released at the end of the first day, but this first edition will already allow us to familiarize ourselves with the formula…
Don't miss the very first edition of the FIM Intercontinental Games!
