The Yamaha rider did not communicate the reasons for this left arm operation, but compartment syndrome appears to be the most likely reason for it.
This pathology appears when an increase in pressure occurs within a muscle compartment, and regularly affects MotoGP riders, who experience extreme stress on the forearms. Which makes the muscles swell.
A situation therefore quite common among drivers, who are used to having surgery at the end of the season. The operation, which consists of cutting the compartment in which the muscle is located, allows the blood to be released. It may need to be carried out several times during a career.
In any case, the latter will therefore have no impact on Fabio Quartararo's preparation for the 2025 season. The Frenchman will therefore be ready for the next official runs, which will take place at Sepang in February. Before that, however, he will take the time to recover from the long tour of the discipline.
