The world champion title could be decided at the last Grand Prix of the season. Before the start of the race on the Barcelona-Catalonia circuit, Sunday November 17, Jorge Martin (Ducati-Pramac) was ahead of Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) by 19 points. Although Bagnaia took victory in Spain, Martin was able to maintain his lead in the general classification with a third place and establish himself as the 2024 MotoGP world champion.
However, Francesco Bagnaia gave everything during this last weekend of competition. The Italian collected maximum points by winning the sprint race on Saturday, then the Grand Prix on Sunday, which he led from start to finish. For his part, Jorge Martin, usually aggressive, demonstrated that he had learned to control himself and manage a race in a favorable position. Like last year, the season was once again played out between the Spanish driver and the Italian, each totaling seven victories. But this time, it was the reigning double world champion who had to give up his throne.
