After the San Marino GP and the official MotoGP tests at Misano, the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team and Fabio Quartararo are ready to tackle the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli again this weekend, for the 14th round of the 2024 MotoGP World Championship, the Gran Premio Pramac dell’Emilia-Romagna.
The stage is important, because if the San Marino Grand Prix and the official test, held on the same circuit two weeks ago, allowed important data to be gathered, it is now three consecutive races partly outside Europe that the Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Team is preparing to face, heading after Italy directly to the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit in Indonesia and the Mobility Resort Motegi in Japan.
Fabio Quartararo starts the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in 14th place overall. The Frenchman scored solid points during the 2024 San Marino race weekend, with a 9th place in the Sprint and a 7th in the Race. He then successfully took part in the official MotoGP test at Misano. He ended this busy day in 5th position on the combined timesheet of the two sessions. Enough to approach this penultimate round in Europe with a certain optimism about the progress made by the M1, while rumours suggest that Yamaha is considering comparing the two architectures on the ground, 4-cylinder inline versus V4.
The Misano circuit, built in 1972, regularly hosted Italian Grands Prix in the 1980s and early 1990s. The 4.2km track has been ridden in a clockwise direction since a radical renovation to meet MotoGP safety regulations in 2007, which allowed the circuit to return to the MotoGP calendar. The renovation also included a new chicane, resulting in the current layout of six left-handers and ten right-handers, and increased the track’s racing appeal.
Fabio Quartararo : “We are back in Misano after testing and the first race here. During testing we confirmed the chassis and tried new settings. My overall ranking was quite good: fifth. But we know that a test is not the same as a GP. After this race weekend we will know better where we are.”

“After a positive test and a few days off, we are back in Misano ready to get to work. This is the last GP before heading abroad. We had mixed results in the last race weekend here, but we are keen to see if some of our findings from testing carry over to this GP. We have had a very intense season so far, with lots of private testing between the IRTA tests and the race weekends, and this final third of the season is no less busy. There are two triples to come, so the stamina of the riders and team members will be key over the next seven weeks.”
