Tickets for the match against Paraguay sold out after Luis Suarez announced his retirement

Although the Centenario stadium has a larger capacity, CONMEBOL reduced the capacity as part of a sanction against Uruguay, limiting the total to 50 thousand tickets.

From the early hours of the day, more than 50,000 people were trying to buy tickets online. Prices ranged from $1,390 to $2,390 for the most expensive seats in the Olympic Grandstand, while there were only a few tickets available in the Amsterdam Grandstand. By 11:00 a.m., the ticket purchasing website indicated that tickets were sold out, with only a few “exchanges” available to avoid being purchased by the general public.

By that time, more than 60,000 people were in line trying to buy tickets, but all the tickets for the general public had already been sold. In the last few hours, tickets for the Colombes and America stands were also sold out.

On Friday, the Centenario stadium will be packed for Luis Suárez’s last game in the Uruguayan national team jersey, after 17 years defending the colours of the Celeste and achieving the record of top scorer of all time with 69 goals in 143 games.
