In this context, Al-Hussein Youabed, communications officer in the aforementioned directorate, reported that strong thundershowers accompanied by hailstones and wind gusts will affect various regions today, Monday, as the orange alert level reaches amounts ranging between 30 and 60 millimetres. These showers include the regions of Midelt, Tinghir and Errachidia, from 8:30 am to 8 pm. In addition to other regions, such as Taounate, Taza, Tetouan, Beni Mellal, Ifrane and Khenifra, from twelve noon to eleven at night.

In a statement to Hespress, Yoabed stressed the importance of “being cautious in the affected areas, and avoiding risks in valleys and slopes, with the need for drivers to be careful due to low visibility and reduce speed as much as possible.”

The spokesman also explained, “The end of last week witnessed the approach of a depression, accompanied by cold air masses. “This led to the formation of unstable rain clouds in the north and centre, especially in the Atlas Heights and the countryside.”

As for tomorrow, Tuesday, thunderstorms will continue with scattered rain in the High and Middle Atlas and neighboring areas. In addition to the phosphate plateaus, Olmas, the Souss region, and the western countryside. Daytime temperatures will rise in the Souss region and the south, with a slight decrease in other places.
