MPs: Royal Speech Stresses Fundamental Role of Parliamentary Diplomacy in Defending Sahara’s Moroccanness

In their statements to MAP, these parliamentarians highlighted HM the King’s call for greater coordination between the two parliamentary houses, and for the establishment of suitable internal structures staffed with qualified profiles, giving priority to the criteria of competence and specialization in the choice of delegations, both for bilateral meetings and for participation in regional and international forums.

In this respect, Rachid Hamouni, Chairman of the Progress and Socialism Group in the House of Representatives, emphasized the major role played by the legislative institution at diplomatic level in consolidating and strengthening the Kingdom’s achievements in the Sahara question, under the enlightened leadership of HM the King.

For his part, Mohamed Hanin, parliamentary advisor to the National Rally of Independents, noted that the Royal speech had a strategic dimension that called on all components of Parliament, with a view to improving parliamentary performance and unifying modes of action in defense of the national cause.

For his part, Mohamed Mellal, MP for the Socialist Union of Popular Forces, emphasized HM the King’s appeal to political parties and other institutions to redouble their efforts to defend the national cause and the sanctities of the Kingdom. “To achieve the desired success, it is important to make the action of all players more effective, particularly in the field of parliamentary diplomacy,” he continued.

MP Houria Didi, of the Authenticity and Modernity Party, noted that Morocco had achieved major successes on the issue of the Kingdom’s territorial integrity, stressing that the responsibility for defending the national cause and highlighting its justness lay with all components of the nation, including the legislative institution.

In a similar vein, Khalihenna El Guerch, coordinator of the Democratic Confederation of Labour group in the House of Councillors, stressed the great responsibility incumbent on parliamentarians, political parties, trade unions and civil society in efforts to “counter the adversaries of the Kingdom’s territorial integrity seriously and swiftly.”

In the same vein, Khalid Sati, parliamentary advisor to Morocco’s National Labor Union, noted that the Royal Address had hailed the serious work carried out by Moroccan diplomacy under HM the King’s far-sighted leadership in defense of the Kingdom’s territorial integrity, and highlighted the important role played by parliamentary diplomacy in this field.
