Will Storm Kirk bring heavy rain to Morocco? Meteorological clarifications.

After the path of Tropical Storm “Kirk” changed towards the European continent, specifically Spain, and Portugal, where it is expected to bring rain and strong winds on Thursday and Friday, Moroccans began to wonder about the possibility of this storm affecting the Kingdom of Morocco.

In this regard, Al-Hussein Youabed, Head of the Communications Department at the General Directorate of Meteorology, said that the countries located in southern Europe, from yesterday, Wednesday, until today, Thursday, remained under the influence of Tropical Storm “Kirk.”

Yoabed explained, in a statement to Set Info, which reported the news, that the tropical storm turned into a depression after losing its energy over the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean, which means that it lost its original tropical cyclone characteristics.

This weakness leads to changes in weather conditions, as this depression heads towards western Europe, specifically France, Spain and Portugal, where it is expected to bring rain and strong winds on Thursday and Friday, according to what Yoabed said.

As for Morocco, Yoabed said, this depression will not have a direct impact on Morocco, but it will cause indirect changes in the weather condition of the Kingdom.

Yoabed added that it is expected that the Assyrian highland, which constitutes a barrier to the arrival of low weather conditions in our country, will weaken, which will lead to a slight drop in temperatures in some northern regions of Morocco, with the possibility of some rain.

The official at the Meteorological Directorate indicated that, with regard to sea conditions, this relatively low tide may cause waves to rise on the Atlantic coasts until midday, Thursday.
