Kicks Out Bin Laden’s Son for Terrorism Advocacy

, Oct 8 (EFE).- has expelled the eldest son of late Islamist extremist Osama bin Laden, who had been living in for years with his British wife, for glorifying extremism in a message honoring the memory of his father, officials reported Tuesday.

Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau announced Tuesday in a message on his X social media account that he had also been banned from re-entering France.

Retailleau said the government delegate of the Orne department, where Omar Bin Laden lived, had ordered his expulsion, a decision whose regularity was confirmed by the courts “for national security.”

As for the reason for his expulsion, the minister said that in 2023 he had made statements that can be considered “apology for terrorism.”

In particular, he is accused of a message on the anniversary of the death of his father, killed in 2011 by American soldiers in an operation in Pakistan, praising his figure.

The son of the Al Qaeda leader, who had lived in Normandy since 2016 and had begun an activity as an artist, had denied being responsible for the message.

Osama bin Laden was the founder of Al-Qaida, considered an extremist organization by the United Nations Security Council, the United States, the European Union and other countries. He is considered the mastermind for the attacks of Sep. 11, 2001 and was killed in 2011 in Pakistan in an operation carried out by US special forces. EFE
