The day was one of harsh confirmations for Real Madrid. Dani Carvajal received the worst news, with a serious injury to his right knee. Vinícius Júnior, with a cervical spine injury, is also a concern and should miss the next games with the Brazilian team.
Carvajal’s case was certainly the saddest. The Spanish right-back suffered a triple ligament injury: rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament, the external collateral ligament and the popliteal tendon. The player will go through the operating table in the next few days.
Carvajal, 32 years old, guaranteed that he will return to football as a “beast”. But the injury even worries his future, both at Real and in football. The recovery time must be longer than one year and goes beyond his contract with the Spanish club. The expectation was that the contract would be renewed, but there was no agreement yet.
In the case of Vinícius Júnior, the injury is not initially a concern for the season. Coach Carlo Ancelotti had already anticipated that the player felt “stuck” with pain in his neck. Imaging tests revealed a “cervical injury.”
Vini Jr. was expected for the Brazilian team’s games against Chile and Peru, on October 10th and 15th, in the World Cup qualifiers. The attacker will hardly be able to present himself to the group, at least for the first of the clashes.
