The passing of the icon of Moroccan art, Naima Mashreqi

Moroccan artist Naima Mashreqi passed away this evening, Saturday, at the age of 81. She is one of the most prominent symbols of cinema, theater and television in Morocco.

Moroccan director Ahmed Bouarwa announced on his official page the painful news to the Moroccan public, mourning the deceased, saying: “The sister, companion, truthful, truthful, beloved and residing in all Moroccan hearts, the artist Naima Lamshriqi has passed away. May God have mercy on her, forgive her, and place her in His spacious paradise. We belong to God.” And to Him we shall return.”

During her artistic career, which spanned more than five decades, Al-Mashriqi presented a group of cinematic and television works that imprinted on Moroccan memory and won the admiration of audiences, as she was distinguished by her creative performances and diverse roles.

The late artist’s career focused on a group of works that dealt with social and cultural issues, which contributed to strengthening Moroccan culture. She was a symbol of strength and inspiration for many young artists.

In addition to her fame in the world of art, the late Naima Al-Mashriqi was previously appointed as a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF, an advisor to the National Observatory for Children’s Rights, and assistant president of the National Syndicate of Theater Professionals.
