A scientific symposium organized by the Trends Center for Research and Consultation, in cooperation with the Regional Center for Educational Planning – UNESCO, emphasized the importance of the pivotal role that the teacher plays in shaping the future of generations, especially in light of the rapid transformations and increasing challenges that the world is witnessing.

The symposium, which was held on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day, which falls on October 5th every year, in the Grand Conference Hall of the Trends Center, under the title “Empowering Teachers: Building Sustainable Societies,” and brought together an elite group of international educators and researchers, stressed the importance of joint cooperation between various stakeholders to enable Teachers and building sustainable societies, noting that developing the education sector requires concerted efforts and coordination of work. The symposium recommended the necessity of investing in sustainable professional development programs for teachers, providing a supportive work environment, and employing technology and innovation in the educational process.

The teacher is a maker for generations

In a welcoming speech, Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of the Trends Center, stressed that the teacher is not just a transmitter of knowledge, but rather a maker of generations and the student’s personality. He stressed the need to empower the teacher and provide a supportive environment for him to keep pace with technological and educational developments, stressing the importance of investing in teachers and developing their capabilities, stressing that the teacher is the basic pillar of any successful educational system.

Following this, the symposium held two working sessions that focused on the future and sustainability of the teaching profession, and on the role of teachers in building a successful future for students and society.

The experts, researchers and educators discussed the matter, including Her Excellency Maryam Majid Bin Thaniah, Second Vice-President of the Federal National Council, Dr. Mai Al-Taie, Director of the Emirates College for Educational Development, Carlos Vargas Tamez, Chairman of the International Task Force on Teachers for Education 2030, UNESCO, and Dr. Iman Gad, Dean. The topics of the second session focused on the main goal of empowering teachers and preparing them to keep pace with future changes, in line with the vision of the wise leadership. The efforts of the Emirates College for Educational Development in developing the teaching profession and providing teachers with the necessary skills for modern education were also highlighted.
