It’s been three days since the Madrid derbywhich ended in a 1-1 draw between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid. However, one of the most talked about situations was the interruption of the match for a few minutes due to the throwing of objects at Thibaut Courtois.
The Rojiblancos’ most radical ultras vented their anger on the Belgian goalkeeper after his reaction to Militao’s goal that made it 0-1. The referee, Busquets Ferrer, sent a warning over the loudspeaker to stop the throwing, but the fans ignored it and the decision was taken.
The fact for which a serious sanction was expected and which, this Wednesday, was announced. The Disciplinary Committee of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) sanctioned Atletico Madrid with the partial closure of its stadium for 3 matches for the incidents of the derby of the eighth round of La Liga against Real Madrid, temporarily suspended for the throwing of objects.
According to the RFEF, the closure will affect part of the lower south standsectors 127 to 133, from where the shots were thrown into the area where the Madrid goalkeeper, Belgian Thibaut Courtois, was standing. The Committee also fined the club 45,000 euros for ‘very serious breaches’.
Despite this, the Rojiblanco side have the option of appealing to try to avoid the sanction imposed. The matches that will be affected by the crowd reduction are Atletico-Leganes; Atletico-Las Palmas and Atletico-Alaves.
