Luis Enrique’s Dart Throws at Dembélé After Omission from PSG’s Squad Against Arsenal in the Champions League: “It Means He’s Not Prepared”

Luis Enrique addressed the internal issues that PSG may be facing, insisting that they are not a matter of discord between players and coach.

A fresh controversy is brewing within the ranks of Saint-Germain (PSG), under the management of Luis Enrique, who appears to be in a heated dispute with one of the club’s star players.

The PSG dressing room is reportedly witnessing friction between Luis Enrique and Ousmane Dembélé, who has been excluded from the squad set to face Arsenal in the second round of the Champions League.

According to French media outlets L’Equipe and RMC Sports, later confirmed by Le Parisien, Dembélé’s omission stemmed from a serious disagreement with the Spanish manager.

During the press conference, the Spaniard explained the rationale behind Dembélé’s absence from the upcoming match, stating: “If someone is seriously not fulfilling their team obligations and it means to me that they are not prepared, it signifies that we need all players available in such an important week. If someone does not meet those expectations, there’s no problem; my goal is to seek what’s best for the team.”

“Building a team involves navigating several challenging circumstances. Yesterday, I had to make a tough decision, but I believe it’s the best for the team without any doubt—I’d make that choice 100 times over. That doesn’t mean the situation is irrevocable or irreversible,” he added.

The former Barcelona coach remarked during the press conference that he signed on at Paris Saint-Germain last season to form a team, asserting, “I will build a team until the last day I’m at Paris. A team with identity, bravery, a bold approach, that plays football or at least tries to, aiming to win every match.”

“I have been hired to build a team, and I will. And in that team is Ousmane Dembélé, in case anyone has doubts,” he clarified.

Luis Enrique referred to the internal problems that PSG may be encountering, reiterating that it’s not an issue between players and coach, but rather a matter “between the coach and his responsibilities within the team, nothing more.”

The PSG manager concluded the topic by saying: “It seems we have never lost with Ousmane Dembélé. We lost to Newcastle, in Milan, in Dortmund, at home against Barcelona. Oh, how scary right?”

In response to the coach’s comments, several followers on social media noted that he does not hold back when discussing his role at PSG and the squad, also labeling him as one of the most “controversial” managers.

“He loves press conferences,” “He keeps throwing darts,” “A proper coach,” “I love this guy,” “How great he is,” “He’s definitely not politically correct,” “It seemed like he hates Dembélé,” “Meanwhile, we have normal people who find it ridiculous,” are some of the comments.
