Seville City Council Prepares Special Measures for Upcoming La Liga Match

SEVILLE, September 28. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The City Council of Seville is preparing a special device for cleaning, mobility, and security ahead of the La Liga match between Real Betis Balompié and RCD Espanyol de Barcelona this Sunday, starting at 18:30.

According to a statement from the council, the municipal transport company Tussam will increase its service with 24 additional buses operating on lines 1, 2, 3, and 6, as well as a shuttle service between the stadium and Sevilla Este. Specifically, service will be reinforced in the Heliópolis area coinciding with the eighth round of the national league championship.

The service enhancements will involve line 1 (Ciudad Sanitaria – Prado – Polígono Norte), line 2 (Heliópolis – Ciudad Sanitaria – Polígono San Pablo – Puerta Triana), line 3 (Bellavista – San Jerónimo – Pino Montano), and line 6 (Ciudad Sanitary – Reina Mercedes – Los Remedios – San Lázaro).

In addition to the 24 reinforcement buses, which will be distributed across these four lines, these vehicles will facilitate public transport access to the match. After the final whistle, they will park at exclusive stops near the stadium to expedite fans’ departure.

The shuttle service connecting the Benito Villamarín Stadium and Sevilla Este will make stops on line LE exclusively for drop-offs, including Prado, San Bernardo, Gran Plaza, Los Arcos, Las Góndolas, Palacio de Congresos, Avenida de la Ciencia, and Avenida de Aeronautics.

In terms of security, the local police’s operation will commence at 15:30, focusing on monitoring parking and street vendors in the areas surrounding the Benito Villamarín Stadium, as well as supervising public establishments and outdoor spaces.

A joint operation between the National Police and Local Police will be deployed in high-traffic areas, including Parque Guadaira, Calle Tajo, and Calle Ensanche, among others, to control gatherings of people consuming alcohol, preventing disturbances for local residents.

The traffic operation will begin at 16:30, with access to the stadium granted only to authorized vehicles, permitted up to an hour before kick-off, in accordance with area regulations.

Traffic restrictions will be enforced from 16:30 until the end of the match, and the green light phase for vehicles will be extended at the traffic signal from Calle San Antonio María Claret to Calle Padre García Tejero. Access to Gol Norte and Gol Sur parking will be controlled until one hour before the match, with no double parking allowed on Avenida de Jerez between Plus Ultra and Avenida Italia heading towards Cádiz.

Additionally, Lipasam has devised a special cleaning operation for the event. A significant human and mechanical deployment will be in place before and after the match to restore normalcy to the streets and public spaces as quickly as possible.

The operation will consist of 24 workers and ten vehicles working in the hours leading up to and following the football match. The aim is to provide effective cleaning service throughout the stadium area and its surroundings.

After the match ends, extensive cleaning will be conducted in the area, including sweeping and pressure washing to remove debris and unpleasant odors. As in previous instances, cleaning will be finalized the following morning with tasks aimed at tidying the most frequented streets near the stadium.
