Tunisia followed up with a second match and a second victory in the framework of the qualification for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco 2025. The Carthage Eagles beat the Gambians 2-1 in a very contested match.

The victory allows Tunisia to consolidate their position at the top of Group A, after winning a tight 1-0 match against Madagascar last Thursday. The 2004 CAN winners took the lead in the 11th minute thanks to a goal from Ali Al-Abdi, surprising the Scorpions.

However, the early opening goal did not deter the Gambians as a few minutes later, Ali Sowe equalised for Gambia, bringing the score to 1-1 before the break. At half-time, both teams had equal chances to take the lead, but neither managed to score. It was not until the 75th minute that Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane scored the decisive goal, allowing the Tunisians to leave with all three points and extend their lead at the top of the group.

The second day of qualifying will continue throughout the week, with several matches scheduled for Monday, September 9.
