The office of the Association of Bar Associations in Morocco called for organizing protest stands for female and male lawyers at the level of each association next Wednesday, September 11, 2024, while continuing to wear badges of protest against the effort, in addition to the association’s office scheduling seminars and meetings in Rabat and Marrakech during the current September and next October.
A statement issued by the association, a copy of which was received by “Akhbarona”, indicated that the association’s office continued its open meeting in Rabat yesterday, Saturday, during which the latest developments in the professional arena and draft laws related to professional practice were discussed. The meeting dealt with passing the draft civil procedure law in the House of Representatives and submitting it to the House of Advisors, as well as referring the draft criminal procedure law to the legislative mechanism, and ending with what was communicated to some female and male lawyers from notifications issued by the National Social Security Fund.
The statement recalled the positive spirit expressed by all lawyers during the angry stand in front of Parliament on July 27, 2024, with the association’s office stressing the importance of maintaining the flame of enthusiasm among professionals, and their rallying around their distinguished professional framework.
The association’s office also confirmed its determination to confront with all its might the maneuvers targeting justice and the legal and constitutional gains of the Moroccan citizen and the defense bodies. It called on the lawyers who received notifications from the National Social Security Fund to open up to the honorable deans in order to implement the formula agreed upon by the association’s office.
The statement indicated that lawyers and their families benefit from basic health coverage for illness through the General Mutual Fund of Bar Associations in Morocco, which remains a social gain that cannot be compromised. The association’s office also announced its intention to continue the professional struggle by outlining an escalating program for the legitimate and comprehensive demands of lawyers, which are considered indivisible.
