Media personality Amira Badr attacked statements made by star Elham Shaheen that were recently spread on social media, in which she talked about one of the directors she worked with stopping filming a scene to perform prayer.
Amira Badr said during her presentation of the program “Khulasat Al-Kalam” on Al-Nahar channel: “The video of the great artist Elham Shaheen is old, but it deserves to create a state of controversy. We love and respect Elham Shaheen, and we love to preserve our soft power, but has religiosity become a strange state? Has God’s commandment become religiosity?”

She added: “What’s the problem with the director taking the workers and praying with them for a quarter of an hour? There are actresses who the director, all the workers and the studio might wait for two or three hours until she finishes her hair or makeup or if she arrives late. There are acceptable and unacceptable words.”
She continued: “It is very normal that even during filming he prays the obligatory prayer of God. Filming, location, drama, series, cinema and movie are not more important than the obligatory prayer of God, and the words were provocative to the feelings of many Muslims.”
In the past few days, an old video of the artist Elham Shaheen has spread across social media, in which she said: “I worked with a director who was very normal and ordinary, and suddenly he became strangely religious, such that every time the camera was turned on for prayer, he would leave the remote control and the actors and go down, and all the workers had to go down behind him, and an imam would stand and lead them in prayer every time.”
Elham Shaheen added in the video: “The scene is over and you can pray in your room, but we have never seen the entire studio shut down. This is the change that has happened in society.”
She continued: “We are not against everyone practicing their religious rituals as they wish, as long as it does not conflict with your work. You should not stop work because of prayer time.”
