Wydad concludes the deal of the season by signing international striker Mbaye Niang

In a move that strengthens Wydad Athletic Club’s position as one of the most prominent clubs in the African continent, Hicham Ait Mena, the club’s president, has concluded a major deal, by signing the Senegalese international striker Mbaye Niang, who previously played for major European clubs such as Milan of Italy and Rennes of France.

After marathon negotiations, following the end of his contract with Italian club Empoli last July, Niang, whose market value is estimated at 2.2 million euros, signed a contract to join the Red Team yesterday, Sunday, at the Mohamed Benjelloun Complex.

This deal comes to strengthen the ranks of Wydad’s distinguished players, with a view to their participation in the Club World Cup, as the Senegalese striker Niang, aged 29, is considered a great gain for the team after his brilliance in the Italian, French, and English leagues, in addition to a successful experience in the Saudi League.

Among Mbaye Niang’s numbers are that he played 16 matches in the French League, in which he scored 40 goals and made 12 assists, and he played 121 matches in the Italian League, in which he scored 23 goals and made 14 assists, and 16 matches in the English League, in which he scored two goals and made two assists as well, and he also played 16 matches in the Turkish League, in which he scored eight goals.
