Fatima El Idrissi dominates the T12 marathon with a record

Fatima Ezzahra El Idrissi won the gold medal in the marathon (T12) at the Paralympic Games this Sunday, September 8, at the Paralympic Games, with an impressive time of 2h48m36s, breaking the world record in Paris.

Her compatriot Meryem En-Nourhi also distinguished herself by winning the silver medal with the help of her guide, Abdelhadi El Harti, and a time of 2h58m18s, her best performance to date.

The bronze medal went to Spain’s Elena Congost, who completed the race in 3h00m48s, accompanied by her guide Mia Carol Bruguera.

With these successes, Morocco currently ranks 30th in the medal table. Other Moroccan performances include gold medals from Mouncef Bouja in the 400m (T12), Aymane El Haddaoui in the 400m (T47), as well as Fatima Ezzahra El Idrissi in the marathon (T12).

In silver, Morocco saw Fatima Ezzahra El Idrissi shine in the 1500m (T13), Abdelillah Gani in the shot put (F53), Youssra Karim in the discus throw (F41), Azeddine Nouiri in the shot put (F34), and Meryem En-Nourhi in the marathon (T12).

Finally, bronze medals were obtained by Aymane El Haddaoui in the 100m (T47), Ayoub Adouich and Rajae Akermach in para-taekwondo (K44), Saida Amoudi in the shot put (F34), Zakariae Derhem in the shot put (F33), and El Amin Chentouf in the marathon (T12).
