News of 12 people missing due to floods in Tata and residents are calling for help – Kech24: Morocco News – Kech24: Moroccan electronic newspaper

On Saturday/Sunday night, social media users circulated a “distress call” from the residents of Okrda Smouken in Tata Province, in which they called on the authorities to intervene and rescue the citizens from the torrential floods.

According to the circulated appeal, at least 12 people were lost due to the floods that hit the region, in addition to the collapse of a group of houses.

These floods led to the interruption of water, electricity and internet services in the aforementioned roundabout, which, according to the same appeal, suffered severe damage.

The General Directorate of Meteorology reported that very heavy thunderstorms accompanied by hail and gusts of wind are expected from today, Saturday, until tomorrow, Sunday, in a number of regions of the Kingdom.

The Directorate explained, in a warning bulletin at the “red” alert level, that this phenomenon (60-100 mm) is expected on Saturday, starting from 8 pm until 11 pm on Sunday, in all the prefectures and provinces of Figuig, Errachidia, Zagora, Tinghir, Ouarzazate and Tata.
