Al-Salami: “We have no time to waste on Jordan’s journey to the World Cup and I am confident that we will manage our campaign well” – Elbotola

Moroccan coach Jamal Sellami, coach of the Jordanian national team, spoke about his beginnings with the “Nashama”, stressing that his goal is to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.

Al-Salami said in an interview with FIFA’s official website: “I had been preparing for an external coaching experience for several years. Then the Jordan Football Association contacted me and offered me the opportunity to work with them as part of an ambitious project. I was familiar with the Jordan national team because I had been following its progress under the leadership of my friend and colleague, Hussein Ammouta.”

He continued: “My meeting with Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, the president of the Jordan Football Association, was also decisive in my decision to join; his words were sincere, clear and transparent. This encouraged me to accept the offer and sign the contract for three seasons.”

“Now it’s time to get to work. I met the players for the first time after the draw for the third round of the World Cup qualifiers. It was an excellent meeting; they listened carefully to what I said, and we are all ready to start in the next round of the qualifiers. We all have the same goal, which made it easy for me to adapt to this team.”The Moroccan framework adds.

He continued: “There are no small teams anymore; any team can pose a threat. The higher the stakes, the more important the finer details. The FIFA rankings show that South Korea and Iraq are the two teams most likely to do well. And let’s not forget Palestine, who could be the dark horse in the qualifiers.”

He concluded: “We have to manage our campaign well, and I am confident we will do that, because we have talented players in our squad who are looking to continue the momentum after the Asian Cup final.”

It is noteworthy that the Jordanian national team, led by Al-Salami, will face Kuwait on September 5, and will meet Palestine on the 10th of the same month.
