The daily newspaper “Al-Ahdath Al-Maghribia” highlighted, in its issue published on Thursday, September 5, 2024, that Morocco raised its number of medals in the Paralympics held in the capital, Paris, to seven medals, after it succeeded in winning four silver medals and three bronze medals, noting that Yasra Karim succeeded in giving Morocco the seventh medal, after she took second place on Wednesday morning in the discus throw, F41 category, behind Tunisian Roua Talouli.
The daily added that Yasra, the world champion, almost won the gold medal, as the Tunisian secured first place by a very small margin, at 0.09, after the latter achieved a score of 36.55, while Yasra Karim recorded a score of 36.46, while her compatriot Najat Al-Karaa was not lucky enough to ascend the podium after she had to settle for fourth place.
The daily newspaper pointed out that Morocco had also won the silver medal, through champion Abdelilah Al-Kani in shot put category F53, runner Fatima Zahra Al-Idrissi in the 1500m race for category T (13), and Raja Aqarmach in the weight of more than 65 kg for category K44 in the sport of Parataekwondo, within the competitions of the 17th Paralympic Games currently held in Paris, while the bronze medal was won by runner Ayman Al-Hadawi in the 100m race in athletics for category T (47), and Ayoub Douich in the weight of less than 63 kg for category K (44) in the sport of Parataekwondo, in addition to the crowning of Moroccan Saida Amoudi yesterday, Tuesday, with the bronze medal in the shot put competition (category F (34).
The same article indicated that Moroccan cyclist Haitham Al-Amrawi failed, on Wednesday, to ascend to the podium after he came in eighth place in the race, with a time of 23 minutes, 36 seconds and 52 hundredths of a second, while Ezzedine Al-Nouri came in second to last in the javelin throw F (34) competition, as he achieved his best throw of 30.30 meters, failing to ascend to the podium.
