The border between Melilla and Morocco is experiencing one of its busiest days this Tuesday night as hundreds of Moroccan minors attempt to cross into the Spanish city. Police authorities in both countries are taking measures to prevent this.

These people would have arrived from different parts of Morocco in an attempt to emulate what they have been doing in Ceuta.

Road checks on both vehicles and buses throughout the province of Nador have been increased following these events.

There is no record of any minors entering so far.

These events are affecting people and vehicles crossing from one side of the border to the other, especially those belonging to Operation Crossing the Strait.

UPDATE: The Government Delegation, at around midnight, reported that “in view of the presence of a large group of people in the vicinity of Beni-Enzar who presumably wanted to access Melilla, the Moroccan authorities have decided to reinforce the security measures at the border crossing by using the gates intermittently.”
