During her interview on the “Details” program presented by Nahal Tayel on “Sada El Balad 2” channel, Dr. Suad Saleh, Professor of Comparative Jurisprudence at Al-Azhar University, responded to the statements of artist Elham Shaheen about prayer and leaving a director to work in order to perform prayer.
Suad Saleh attacked Elham Shaheen and said: “I am surprised by this statement that when a person takes the initiative to obey God and perform the prayer because a person does not know how long he will live, we all know that life spans are in God’s hands, but this is considered mockery and ridicule.”
She continued: “I say to the one who said this, how old are you now and you are still this far from the manners that God explained, I mean, and you have no right to belittle someone who is doing something right, this is obedience and obey God and the Messenger, whoever obeys God and His Messenger will be admitted to Paradise, and the opposite will be admitted to Hellfire to abide therein, whoever disobeys God and His Messenger, and God says, ‘These are the limits of God, and whoever transgresses the limits of God wrongs himself.’”
Regarding Elham Shaheen’s clarification that a doctor does not leave his work during prayer time, Souad Saleh said: “Is it normal for me to compare a doctor who is standing performing an operation to a director who is filming and distributing roles?”
An old video of the artist Elham Shaheen had spread over the past few days on social media and caused a great deal of controversy after she appeared in it saying: “I worked with a director who was very normal and natural, and suddenly he became strangely religious, such that every time the call to prayer was made and the camera was on, he would leave the remote control and the actors and go down, and all the workers had to go down behind him and an imam would stand and lead them in prayer every prayer.”
Elham Shaheen added in the video: “Finish the scene and pray in your room, but we have never seen the entire studio shut down. This is the change that has happened in society… We are not against anyone practicing their religious rituals as they want, but as long as it does not conflict with work. I mean, work should not stop because of prayer time.”
